CELEBRATE WORLD GIN DAY LONDON DRY STYLE!

Happy World Gin Day!

If like us, you’re a huge fan of the brilliant spirit that is gin, you can use World Gin Day as the perfect excuse to make a wonderful gin-based drink to enjoy.

Here at Slingsby, we’ve got such a varied gin collection including everything from your traditional London Dry gin to classics such as Navy Strength or Old Tom and our Yorkshire-grown fruity flavours. Better still, they all taste gintastic both in cocktails and in a simple yet oh so satisfying, G&T.

For World Gin Day this year, we wanted to take it back to ‘basics’ and focus on the gin at the very core of Slingsby; our award-winning London Dry. Our London Dry gin was a born way in back in 2015 (yes, we’re nearly 6 years old now!) and is still going strong in 2021. Better still, this gin makes our whole Slingsby range what it is today as this is the base of every other gin that we have. Without it, there would be no fruity Rhubarb, tangy Marmalade or sweet Old Tom.

Something that makes Slingsby London Dry gin stand out amongst the London Dry crowd is its rich citrus profile that comes from the grapefruit base. You can see from The Gin Guild, Gin Note flavour guidance that we score high in the citrus profile along with floral notes that come from the Taylors of Harrogate green and jasmine scented tea. This makes for an incredibly refreshing G&T and its delicate flavours also make our London Dry gin a well-suited cocktail base.

You’ll also find 24 carefully selected botanicals which have been selected based on the restorative nature of our hometown of Harrogate. Twelve of these are locally sourced from Rudding Park kitchen gardens and Taylors of Harrogate providing Green and Jasmine tea. The selection from Rudding Park includes Thyme, Sage, Rosemary, Sweet Cicely, Rhubarb, Oregano and Primrose. If you pay a visit to Rudding Park, grab a copy of the kitchen garden map from reception and look out for the botanicals marked with an ‘S’ for ours.

Don’t just take our word for how great it is though; our gin has been awarded numerous times for its taste dating way back to the 2016 Spirits Business Gin Masters where it picked up its first award, a GOLD, and most recently picking up SILVER at the 2021 European Spirits Challenge!

We don’t really need an excuse to enjoy our favourite spirit, but this weekend we will be doing exactly that. We have a few different ways to really appreciate the taste of our London Dry gin, all of which taste just as good as the next…

Signature Serve

For a perfect and more traditional G&T, you’ll want to pair Slingsby London Dry with a premium tonic water, a twist of grapefruit peel and fresh blueberries. This is the best way to experience the combination of flavours in the gin.

  • 50ml London Dry Gin
  • 200ml Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic Water

Jasmine Martini

Our  ‘Jasmine Martini’ is simple yet elegant and adds a twist to a classic martini thanks to a touch of subtle sweetness.

  • 25ml Slingsby London Dry
  • 25ml Cocchi Americano
  • 15ml Jasmine Syrup

Combine everything into a mixing glass and stir until diluted and then strain into a Martini glass. You can garnish with an edible flower if you’re feeling fancy.

Slingsby Sangria

Socialising is officially back on the agenda and this is the perfect drink for summer BBQs.

  • 375ml white wine
  • 100ml ginger ale, cloudy apple juice & elderflower cordial
  • A drizzle of honey
  • 2 sliced lemons
  • 1 green apple

Add all ingredients to a jug with cubed ice and then pour into individual tumblers and garnish each glass with a mint sprig.
