This week we’re celebrating the much loved, classic Negroni cocktail. Negroni Week presented by Campari Group and Imbibe Magazine will this year concentrate on raising funds for bars and restaurants that have been affected by Covid 19.
The Negroni is a well-known Italian cocktail made of one-part gin, one-part vermouth and one-part Campari. Traditionally the cocktail is stirred, not shaken, and served in an old-fashioned glass with a slice of orange or orange peel twist.
This cocktail is reported to have first been mixed in Florence in 1919. Concocted by Count Camillo Negroni who asked his bartender, Fosco Scarselli, to strengthen his favourite cocktail, the Americano, by adding gin instead of soda water. Here, Fosco also switched out the typical lemon garnish with orange.
To help you celebrate Negroni Week, we’ve made 4 delicious Slingsby twists on the famous cocktail using our London Dry, Rhubarb, Marmalade and Gooseberry Gins.
