BMW PGA Championship 2019

BMW PGA Championship 2019

News

Between Wednesday 18th and Sunday 22nd September, we were delighted to bring our restorative taste of Harrogate to Wentworth Golf Club, in Surrey, as an official sponsor of the BMW PGA Championship.

Established in 1955, the Championship has since become one of the most prestigious golf tournaments on the European Tour. And we thought it fitting that world-class golf should be accompanied by award-winning gin.

The tournament began with a whole host of famous faces partaking in the Pro-Am draw. During the Pro-Am, our Joint-Managing Director, Marcus, and our Marketing Director, Clare, served refreshing Slingsby gin and tonics to celebrities at the 14th hole. Clare and Marcus had the pleasure of introducing the likes of Sam Quek, James Nesbitt, Ian Wright, Sir Andrew Strauss, and Niall Horan to our essence of Harrogate in a bottle.

Throughout the four-day tournament there was plenty of action both on and off the course. We enjoyed welcoming many of the 109,664 spectators to our Slingsby bar, garden and showstage in the Championship Village. The atmosphere was second to none as the gin flowed, and people lounged in the sunshine on the garden furniture and took selfies on our iconic Slingsby swing.

The Slingsby team have come back from the tournament with so many highlights. Our Mixologist, Ben, had a great time hosting an exclusive lunchtime gin tasting for the players’ wives. The Showstage bar team appreciated their front row seat as Andrew Cotter hosted a Q&A session with former England rugby player Martin Bayfield and Welsh rugby player Scott Quinnel. And our Marketing Director, Clare, danced the night away to Rudimental and Anne-Maire on Saturday and Sunday nights as they performed exceptional live sets on the Slingsby Showstage.

Our congratulations to the championship winner, Yorkshireman Danny Willett (all the best people and things are born and bred in Yorkshire!). We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
