Cowes week

Cowes Week is one of the UK's longest running and most successful sporting events and is a key highlight of the British sporting summer. It has been held in early August every year since 1826, except during the two world wars.

Traditionally, Cowes Week takes place after Glorious Goodwood and before the Glorious Twelfth (the first day of the grouse shooting season) - occasionally the traditional dates are changed to ensure optimum racing, taking account of the tides or, as in 2012, to avoid a clash with the Olympic Games. Over the years the event has attracted British and foreign royalty, and many famous faces.

Slingsby are proud to be the 'Official Gin' of Lendy Cowes Week 2019.

Slingsby gin will be available on the Fever-Tree bar in Cowes Yacht Haven, along with a number of other bars in and around the event. Keep your eyes peeled for our branded yacht and we will be doing Slingsby G&T drops to teams out on the water.

Slingsby Ladies Day

Since 2006, the Tuesday of Cowes Week has been a unique take on a Ladies Day as seen at other British Summer Season events. The day celebrates the contribution and achievement of women in sailing and recognises some of the major successes of women in the sport. This year, the prestigious day is presented by Slingsby and will take place on Tuesday 13th August.

Lendy Cowes Week sees many mixed crews, as well as female only crews, and all ladies out racing are encouraged to wear their seafaring navy-and-white stripes. The event's prize giving RIB is out on the water looking for ladies in stripes after racing on Lendy Ladies Day.

While there are many women out racing, it is less common for ladies to take the helm, so on Slingsby Ladies Day, we especially encourage lady drivers. The Royal Southern Ariel Trophy is awarded to the female helm with the best overall result on Slingsby Ladies Day.

Shoreside, all ladies are encouraged to join in with the navy-and-white stripes dress code for the day and prize giving teams are out and about rewarding those with the most eye-catching outfits.

There are special offers for ladies across our shoreside venues during the day including discounts at bars and pop-up shops. Cowes Parade runs a prize draw for ladies visiting the Parade in navy-and-white.

The Slingsby Ladies Day celebrations culminate in an exclusive evening reception at which the 'Ladies Day Trophy' is awarded.
