SLINGSBY GOES SAILING

SLINGSBY GOES SAILING

News

As part of the Slingsby Summer Series, we wanted to incorporate events that covered an array of different sports – cycling, polo, cricket, golf and sailing. With Cowes Week being one of the oldest and most prestigious sailing events, we thought it pertinent that Slingsby got involved.

So what was our role I hear you ask??? Slingsby was the ‘Official Gin’ of Cowes Week and also the headline sponsors of Cowes Week Ladies Day, which got renamed ‘Slingsby Ladies Day’ for this year. In addition to this, we also had a Slingsby yacht on the water taking part in a 18 boat race over the 7 days.

Cowes Week TV reporter Nic Douglas interviewed Slingsby Marketing Director - Clare Gibson at the start of the week to talk about what we were up to. You can watch the clip here.

It's safe to say, Slingsby went big...

Spectators and sailing participants could enjoy a refreshing Slingsby G&T at Cowes Yacht Haven, Cowes Parade and Shepards Marina all of which served Slingsby London Dry, Gooseberry, Rhubarb and our infamous Navy Strength Gin (very popular with the sailing fraternity)!

We were on hand to provide delicious gin for VIP events throughout the week including the Cowes Week Cocktail Party held at the beautiful Royal Yacht Squadron and the Sponsors/Partners event hosted by AQL.

The stunning Slingsby yacht was part of an 18 boat race within the Sunsail Class competing against companies such as Opihr, Deloitte, Investec and Aberdeen Asset Management on each day of the regatta. We invited different crews each day to help us sail to victory (unfortunately this didn't happen but we were obviously very close!) and managed to finish within the top 10 of the Sunsail Class. Well done team!

Tuesday was our day - Slingsby Ladies Day! Each boat with a lady at the helm was given a Slingsby flag to fly from their boats, the dress code of the day was nautical stripes and there were spot prizes throughout the day for the best dressed – both on and off the water. Some of the team jumped on the Slingsby rib and went to do G&T drops on the water with our Slingsby branded cool bags containing Slingsby Rhubarb Gin, Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonics and Slingsby cups. It's safe to say that the 50 crews who were handed one of these were elated to see us after a competitive and tiring day on the water! Later that day, we hosted an evening reception and prize giving ceremony at Northwood House for sponsors, partners, sailing competitors, celebrities, press and influencers. A wonderful evening was had by all!

We can't wait to come back next year Cowes!
